This page details one or more prototype versions of DK: King of Swing.

There exists a ROM dump of a kiosk demo version of the game. Its date and origin are unknown, but the 2005 date on the title screen suggests that it was near the final release.

The demo contains the Cranky's Lectures tutorial section and all the levels of the first world. After completing the first boss the demo resets back to the title screen. While unused, the rest of the game's levels are all found in the ROM and can be accessed with cheats. All the stages appear to be identical to the ones in the retail versions.

Main Menu

The main menu of the demo lets you choose between Cranky's Lectures and Adventure. Completing the tutorial leads to the intro cutscene and adventure mode, while in the final version the cutscene is shown before the tutorial.

If the player chooses Adventure, they are taken straight to the intro cutscene. Selecting Adventure starts the player with 3 hearts and 20 bananas while the tutorial starts you off with 2 hearts and no bananas.

Exiting Levels

The one gameplay difference is that the player's number of bananas and health is kept when you exit a level from the pause menu. In the final game exiting a level resets you to the state before the level. The demo also lets you keep collected medals and crystal coconuts when you exit a level.
