This cactus is UNDER CONSTRUCTION
This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.

Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE is what happens when you combine the mysterious surreal noir-style writing of The Big O and the dungeon-crawling truth-seeking gameplay of Persona 5 with a splash of the wackiness from Danganronpa.

In a mysterious city that's covered by endless rain, you play as a young amnesic detective named Yuma who must solve cases to uncover the truth of the city with his totally-not-ghost-Junko Enoshima partner, Shinigami.

Hmmm...
To do:
  • Find a way to properly view models as there's some unused models like ChrDummy.
  • There should be some more unused graphics to be documented.
  • There's assets and files that show the game is getting an eventual PC/Xbox/PlayStation release. Should they be documented here?
  • Investigate the DLC files.
  • Document 1.3.0 patch and see what differences there are.
  • Here's a tool that can extract all the textures and view some models.

Unused Menus

Debug Menu

Master Detective Archives Rain Code - Debug Menu.png

By modifying the DefaultEngine.ini file within RC\Config\, it is possible to tell the game to boot up a scene file for the debug menu rather than the title screen. This can be achieved by modifying the GameDefaultMap= setting value to be /Game/RC/Maps/Debug/DebugTopMenu_P.DebugTopMenu_P.

Due to what is most likely missing characters in the English font, most of the text does not display properly unless your system language is set to Japanese. Additionally, most of these functions seem to be lacking functionality due to most likely needing to be run within the UE Editor; as such, they will be documented as-is on original hardware.

Options Function
Script Start (シーン指定) Loads into a black screen with nothing going on.
Script Start (シーン指定・UE Editor Switch版サブレベル) Loads into a black screen with nothing going on.
Script Start (プログラマ確認用) Loads the game into Kamasaki District with what seems to be a bunch of testing scripts, internally referred to as Chapter 90. Oddly, a bugged-out Halara and Desuhiko with broken textures follow you around.
Map Viewer Loads the game into an empty map with a multicolored floor and a dark cloudy skybox. According to the save file, the game loads Chapter 90.
Map Viewer(Switch) Loads the game into an empty map with a multicolored floor and a dark cloudy skybox. According to the save file, the game loads Chapter 90.
Nazo Map Viewer Loads into a black screen with nothing going on.
Character Viewer Loads a scene of what seems to be a white plane with a solid grey skybox and nothing going on.

0章 5000シーン Starts the game from Chapter 0, Scene 5000 (beginning of the Mystery Labyrinth).
0章 9000シーン Starts the game from Chapter 0, Scene 9000 (right after leaving the Mystery Labyrinth).
カマサキウォークスルー(50_0010) Starts the game from Chapter 50, Scene 10.

Evaluation Version Menu

Master Detective Archives Rain Code - Evaluation Title Menu.png

A menu that is more barebones and basic than the retail release of the game. "New Game" and "Load Game" behave as expected, with "Kamasaki" loading an unused Chapter 50 script, which seems to be a demo for walking around Kamasaki District.

Unused Graphics

An unused splash logo for that features the Epic Games logo and the obvious "editor" text.
