Wii Sports + Wii Sports Resort combo disc has also released in USA, not just PAL. Any differences with it? http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Wii-Sports-Plus-Resort-Version/dp/B009YZNR3Y The preceding unsigned comment was added by Theclaw (talk) • (contribs) 04:37, 29 December 2012 (EST)

Thanks for pointing that out, it seems like it must have been a relatively unknown Wii bundle disc. It'd be interesting to see for its timeStamp.txt file, but otherwise I imagine the contents would be essentially identical, barring localisations. - Vague / Rant 05:08, 29 December 2012 (EST)

Baseball Cutscene

I wonder if this might be a regional change, as I have PAL launch copy of Wii Sports (with the jacketless Wiimote), which includes the player line up animation. Might be something to look into. --Ds22 12:01, 29 December 2012 (EST)

Maybe both... The NTSC version didn't get the cutscene until post-jacket. Pgj1997 13:36, 29 December 2012 (EST)

Totaka's Song

This video says the the sound effects of the tennis ball being hit are actually notes of Totaka's song. Can anyone check on that? Pgj1997 15:36, 9 January 2013 (EST)

It's bullshit. Someone edited the three or four different rally sounds to the rhythm of Totaka's song. Neither the notes nor the unedited rhythm fit. --Fry's Dead Dog (I will wait for you) 15:46, 9 January 2013 (EST)
Pop Fiction even made an episode about it. They explain that's it's just a normal phenomenon when you hear a song if the timing is right, regardless of the "notes"' tones. That, combined with people desperately trying to find the song, resulted in this. {EspyoT} 19:38, 9 January 2013 (EST)
It Is not in the game, if it was it would be in a .brseq file in the .brsar file used for the tennis sound effects, I Ripped the .brseq data and converted it to .midi myself. Not a single midi has Totaka's Song in it. Therfore, It Does Not Exist in the game data. --Jimmy Kaz (talk) 02:05, 9 November 2017 (EST)

Empty folders

There're a lot of empty folders inside the "Sound" and "Stage" folders. Curiously, there's a folder in both directories called "Kokeshi" (used for describing Miis in the game) --NewSuperMoiWii (talk) 12:49, 24 August 2014 (EDT)

The reason for the empty folders is because of how the SDK worked, for example:
Let's imagine a game called G, with 2 minigames called A and B.
A stores it's stage models in the /Common folder while B stores it's stage models in the /Stage folder.
When the game gets built, each of the "main" folders contain folders for each part of the game, even if there is no data stored in that folder for that part of the game.
So you would get 2 empty folders: /Common/B and /Stage/A.
I'm heavily simplifying things so this is not 100% accurate and there ARE a few exceptions, but this is why there are many empty Kokeshi folders. --GibHaltmann (talk) 09:56, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

Ping Pong references?

So I was peeking into the .rsar files of the game using BrawlBox, and for some reason, in /Sound/RPBoxScene/rp_Box_sound.rsar in /SR/TR/Training/Tamayoke/hit/ (This directory will make sense if you open it using BrawlBox, or else perhaps try searching using a hex editor for the to be mentioned string), there's both a file and a folder called 'pinpon'. Perhaps does this mean that ping pong could have been planned as early as Wii Sports (Instead of debuting in Wii Sports Resort) and perhaps could have taken the place of Boxing during development? --Team Fail (talk) 02:42, 28 January 2015 (EST)

Not sure what version you're looking at, mine (US 1.0) has /Common/RPBoxScene/rp_Box_sound.brsar and the file/folder is is /SE/TR/Training/Tamayoke/hit/, but I'd say that it would be plausible considering that pinpon (ピンポン) does mean ping-pong in Japanese. -Einstein95 (talk) 03:16, 28 January 2015 (EST)
Mine's a personal dump of US 1.1. I guess they changed the folder layout between versions. --Team Fail (talk) 14:56, 28 January 2015 (EST)
Some of the hit sounds in boxing, such as the health meter draining represent a "ping" sound. While you may be correct I think this is a plausible outcome as well. Alternatively, the boxing training mode game "Dodging" and its related files contain a model for a ping pong ball, titled "box_ball_pin"--Kiwi (talk) 00:41, 30 July 2019 (EDT)

Build Dates

I took the Nintendo Selects section off the table since I believe they use the same build as the later updated versions of the game (Present with later Wii consoles.) Could someone verify if they use the same build? Plus, recently Korea got a Nintendo Selects version of Wii Sports Resort + Wii Sports. (Australia already got one as well...) On the "beta iso" from ryanskova

After Ehm was provided with a download link, and shared it with the admins, I took a look into this. This is the worst fake prototype I have ever seen. From the save file banner to the grossly incorrect information given when "documenting" this fake prototype ("This image was taken by a boat harbor with the file name Marina.tpl The File Creation Date, Dates Back to December 18, 2001. So this may have been a leftover image used by nintendo as a placeholder", brres files do not contain file-creation or file-modified dates. Why save metadata when you're trying to save space?), this was the work of an amateur either trying to make a name for themselves, or one that has absolutely no life. [Please note that opinions expressed here do not reflect the opinion of other admins] -eientei95 (talk) 02:00, 14 November 2017 (EST)

The Save file banner wasn't made by Nintendo, someone made it and i thought it looked cool so i put it in the banner.tpl file, and the marina.tpl file was found by me in the GameCube sdk. The image was created in December of 2001 (When the GameCube was in its first year of release) and not everyone has perfect English, i have problems wording things correctly, and if all you do is rant on others and take down edits then you are the one with no life my friend.--Platvertu (talk) 14:19, 22 November 2017 (EST)
So you admit to falsifying data in the prototype? Good one. Also, I never criticised your grammar, only the facts you stated. -eientei95 (talk) 05:28, 25 November 2017 (EST)

Now listen up here mate, The only thing i falsified was the save game banner as i said, It was not made by me" if you want proof that those images in debugdata.bress exist then look in the sdk yourself, the path for the images is dvddata/pictures. and the ISO is real, I even know some people that have it, and they have even sent me assets from it that they saved, you are a disgrace to this site, this site is for people who are interested in video games and want to share information about Unused music, Unused graphics/images, Unused text, etc. and some people have spent hours, and even days looking for this stuff to add info about in an article, and you just delete it without caring about how long it took them to write it, but if thats the kind of person you want to be..... then people will start to hate this site.--Platovu (talk) 14:16, 25 November 2017 (EST)
We document prototypes where the ISO has actually leaked and there's sufficient enough proof it's a prototype. In this case, only snippets of it have been shown off and it's documented in a rather dubious way (not just the bad grammar, mind, but the rather silly speculation to go along with it). Not helping matters is that this is documented mainly by Wikia users and that site is filled to the brim with little kids making all sorts of speculation. There are Wikias that have legit unused content shown, but this prototype is of rather dubious origin. There's little evidence of anyone saying this prototype has been leaked anywhere on the net (outside of what seems to be a small group of people). Also, re-regging when your main account is banned is a no-no, Ryanskova, as is using proxies to get around that ban. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 14:27, 25 November 2017 (EST)
Look who's talking, i bet you would do the exact same thing if you were not an admin, and i wouldn't even have to do this if you didn't ban people for standing up to you, and in case i didn't make it clear before, i found the ISO on some old Japanese website back in April 2017, I Gave it to my friend jimmy, and he had a hard drive corruption and lost it and i deleted it because i thought no one else wanted it (a mistake on my part) but i found another ISO on another site while searching online, it was uploaded sometime in October of 2007 when the one i found in April was uploaded in December of 2006. When I downloaded the ISO there were some assets missing from the one i found in April, but most of the stuff was still there, i was not able to launch it on dolphin straight from the ISO so i extracted all the files from the ISO and replaced the files in a wii sports iso with the files that worked from the beta iso, I Converted it from .iso to :::: and then sent it to ehm.--Lez40urty (talk) 15:12, 25 November 2017 (EST)
Some old Japanese website? Which one? At least post the URL where you allegedly found it. Also, it seems suspect how you deleted it when by all means, there are people out on the net craving for prototypes (like on BetaArchive). The dates listed are also within the final release dates, so it's possible these aren't even prototypes, but instead revisions. Also, nice re-regs there. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 15:19, 25 November 2017 (EST)
I deleted it before i even knew about this site, someone told me about this website about a month ago--000A07 (talk) 15:26, 25 November 2017 (EST)
Wouldn't have hurt to ask other people interested in prototypes before deleting it, especially considering there's no record of anyone releasing a prototype of Wii Sports and there would indeed be plenty of people out on the net trying to find it. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 15:36, 25 November 2017 (EST)
I'd like to also state that the ISO given was one made by CD image tools, not the GC/Wii SDK. Also, all Wii prototypes have been in a format and encryption specific to debug Wiis. This was only recently added to Dolphin (thanks to efforts by GerbilSoft). If you're going to fake an ISO, at least do some research first. - eientei95 (talk) 23:40, 25 November 2017 (EST)

You obviously were not paying attention to the messages, i literally said that the iso file didnt work so i had to replace the files in a regular wii sports iso with the files from the beta iso -Aribacon (talk)

It doesn't help matters is that you don't know why it didn't work, so you went with a brute force manner of forcibly loading prototype files with the final game's executable. Moving the prototype files into the ISO probably screwed things up quite a bit. Not to mention that you've still yet to mention where the prototype originated from. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 00:27, 26 November 2017 (EST)

oh, so you decided to edit my original account profile page? how nice, and Jimmy/Yatvi is one of my friends, he was the one who made me my original account (the ryanskova one) because it would not let me sign up the first time i tried to make an account on this site, and i guarantee that you would not like it if someone did that to your profile page, it's just one site, and wikia is really starting to look better than this site at the moment (even this its used with mediawiki assets) at least they dont vandalize your profile on that site, and they dont take down edits on that site just because it doesn't match the moderators expectations, and i don't care that more people like the tools on this site than on wikia, so yeah, good luck! --Laltesurown (talk) 23:23, 26 November 2017 (EST)

Even you made constant re-regs to complain about us on the wiki and Jimmy made a good number of re-regs too, which is against the wiki rules. The quality of your edits is really questionable and we reverted them because of the re-reg craze. Adieu and good luck on Wikia. --From: divingkataetheweirdo (talk) 23:28, 26 November 2017 (EST)

Possible Unused Song?

Is the song "RP_SportsCommon_Bgm_PhysicalMeasure.t.32.c4.brstm" used? I don't remember ever hearing it in-game. --B squo (talk) 18:52, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

Nevermind, added to the main article. --B squo (talk) 14:07, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
