Development Timeline

2000-01

  • "Boing" is created as a tech demo for Presto Studios' new realtime game engine.
  • Presto decides to turn the tech demo into a full game. The original concept was "Animaniacs-esque".
  • Microsoft steps in as the game's publisher after seeing the concept.
  • Over time, the game's tone shifts to the edgier tone seen in the final game.

2002

  • October 8 - Whacked! is released in North America.
  • November 29 - Whacked! is released in Europe.

2003

  • January 16 - Whacked!: Giriyaba! Rantou Party TV! is released in Japan.
