This page details pre-release information and/or media for Tony Hawk's Underground 2.

Website Screenshots

The THUG2 website includes several screenshots from an earlier point in development.

Skater Attire

  • The logo on Tony Hawk's shirt is the ADIO logo, instead of the Hawk emblem.
  • Chad Muska's attire is completely different. (In the final product, he wears a purple shirt, black pants, white shoes, gloves on both hands, and a different pair of sunglasses, and does not wear a hat.)

FREAK OUT!!! / Mike Vallely's Appearance

Thug2 spazzout.png

"FREAK OUT!!!" was originally called "SPAZZ OUT!!!" In this same screenshot, Mike Vallely is wearing a different shirt, and his board has a different graphic. (He wears a Sobe shirt and uses a red Element board in the final product.)

C-O-M-B-O Letter Colors

The C-O-M-B-O letters have green insides, rather than lime insides.

E3 2004 Trailer

Hmmm...
To do:
Comparison pictures.

  • Australia appears slightly unfinished: There are missing textures, and textures of a very low quality.
  • New Orleans looks less colorful and lively.
  • Tony Hawk is still wearing an ADIO T-shirt.
  • At 1:23, the people standing in this shot, from left to right, are: Eric Koston, the perverted man from the cutscene when you finish Boston, Eric Sparrow, Bam Margera, and Phil Margera. In the final product, Wee-Man is there instead of the pervert, and is standing to the left of Koston.
  • At 1:24, Bob Burnquist's glasses lack transparency and his hat lacks the emblem, Rodney Mullen's head is mishapen, and Chad Muska uses his head model from the first game.
  • Paulie "Wheels of Fury" Ryan's model doesn't have any lighting applied to it during the Porta-Potty cutscene.
  • The person inside the portable toilet is different from the one in the final product.
  • When Bam hits the pervert with the tennis ball and laughs, he is the only one on the rooftop. Also, the Wheel of Loogies is behind him, whereas in the actual game, the Wheel of Loogies does not appear in this cutscene until Bam and Phil introduce it.
  • Some of the people shown in the "Over 20 Skatable Characters" part aren't playable in the game.
  • Mike Vallely still isn't wearing a Sobe T-shirt.
  • When the player Sticker Slaps the portable toilet, liquidized fecal matter doesn't appear to be leaking out.
  • Benjamin Franklin is driving a vehicle, which he can't do in the actual game.
  • The Character Editor looks very early. The font is different, the background seems to be glitchy, and the Wheel of Loogies is right next to the character.
  • Bam appears to be holding his chainsaw in front of the player, instead of in front of Eric Sparrow. Also, Rodney Mullen isn't present.
  • The Wheel of Loogies has some funky lighting, with the names on each panel lit up in stark contrast with the rest of the wheel.

Box Art Screenshots

"Hey, it's the ol' beaver-banger! Bet you were lookin' for this!"

The screenshot for Story Mode is from its ending cutscene, but the Skatopia sign is not on fire, and the scene appears to be taking place at dusk. In the actual game, it switches to night for the Escape Line sequence, making it impossible for the ending to take place at any other time.

Notes (Regarding the Final Product)

"On hearing the news, Tony and Bam replied, 'Hey, good call.' "
  • In the main intro, when Bam says, "So beautiful..." It is daytime, even though the clip in question is taken from the ending. (see above)
  • During the last news report in the end credits, Tony appears to be wearing the ADIO shirt...but it also seems to have the "B" from the Birdhouse logo? This indicates that the renders used for the report were made at an earlier point in development.
