Little Monster at School
Little Monster at School |

Developer: Brøderbund This game has revisional differences. |
This article is a work in progress. ...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes. |
Little Monster at School is the Living Books adaptation of the book of the same name. It's notable for being the second (and last) title to be released on a console, following the Tandy VIS version of Just Grandma and Me.
To do: There is a lot to discuss and add.
|
Revisional Differences
The first version of the game was released for the CD-i before it was released for Windows and Macintosh computers. As a result, there are a few differences between these versions.
Title Screen
CD-i | Windows/Macintosh |
---|---|
While the PC versions' title screen is identical to the physical book's cover, the CD-i version uses an approximation of the original artwork redrawn to fit the console's smaller screen size.
Cutscene Changes
The company logo underwent a revision with a remixed theme and the removal of the six-note scale. "Broderbund's" was replaced with "A Random House/Broderbund Company".
Main Menu
In the CD-i version, the main menu has the title logo used from the book cover and the background is a plain yellow screen. In the PC/Mac version, the title logo is different and the background is a book. Also, the PC/Mac version has a Spanish language option unlike the CD-i version.
Other
- There are several sound and graphic differences, including a few animated frames that are missing from the PC/Mac versions.
- There is no quit page as it's a console port.
- When cutting between scenes, the transition engine fades transparently into another scene instead of fading to/from black, hence the fading screens are done differently here than in any other game in the series.
- In the CD-i version, there is a credits sequence where a woman does a voiceover session in addition to the Painting sequence. In the PC/Mac version, it was replaced by the Programmer and Music sequences.
