Heritage of Kings: The Settlers is the fifth game in the Settlers series of citybuilder/real-time strategy games, notable for being the first to feature 3D graphics and for focusing more on the RTS side of the gameplay formula compared to previous entries.

The technologies in rows 9, 11, and 15 were cut and the blank in row 12 never had an icon (referred in code as the cut "Trading" tech tree: Taxation, Laws, Banking, Gilds).

The technology/ability in row 2 was cut, likely a levy tax function that was enabled after the previously mentioned "Taxation" technology.

Unit selection UI icons

The following are the unused icons used in the UI on top of the screen to move the player camera over to the specified unit on the map. In the retail game they were replaced with different ones, or in the case of the last one, the hero was made unplayable due to being replaced by another.
