Eye of the Beholder III - Assault on Myth Drannor has been considered by many to be the worst of the Eye of the Beholder series. The game used a new engine titled AESOP, which runs very sluggish and freezes often, sound effects can no longer be played on an AdLib card, and the story makes no sense. Probably the worst of all the complaints about this game is the resting system: while the previous two games allowed you to rest until enemies came to you, this time around you can't rest unless the entire area is clear of enemies.

Also, when running on an emulator such as DOSBox, the emulator must be sped up in order for the game to run properly.

The game Dungeon Hack used an improved version of the AESOP engine.

Unused Songs

Hmmm...
To do:
Rip the songs.

There are two unused songs, the XMIs of which can be extracted from the game's RES files.

  • The first song is used in the PC-98 version for the Character Generation screen, which is silent in the DOS version.
  • The second song sounds as if it were to be used for one of the many in-game cutscenes.
