Formed in 1999, TDK Mediactive Europe was the media division of TDK Recording Media Europe, which handled the publication of video games and distribution of concert DVDs and CDs. Most of its video game releases were licensed from their US division, formerly Sound Source Interactive.
After the US division was sold to Take-Two Interactive in 2003, the European branch continued publishing games exclusively for the European market. In 2005, TDK announced they would sell their game lineup to Playlogic Entertainment, effectively taking TDK Recording Media Europe out of the video game industry.
